About the programme
Product design in the world of traditional crafts is an educational and cultural course that aims to broaden the perception of the learner, whether a craftsman, designer or an apprentice, about Cultural Heritage and their role in preserving it through design and production.
The learners will get acquainted with important terms in the world of cultural heritage, such as Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage with examples and case studies that will enable them to understand and discover the difference between them and acknowledge their importance as an essential part of our cultural identity.
They will also learn about traditional crafts and their various elements which have been part of the cultural heritage practices, and the importance of preserving and ensuring their continuity in the light of challenges that hat resist this continuity in our time.
We will also delve into the world of product design by understanding the fundamentals of product design and identifying its principles and objectives in addition to the design steps from concept ideation until production, with presenting the elements that has to be considered when designing for and with crafts.
